The good thing about this tour is that you can decide how to spend the day, there are options for active hikers, photographers or maybe just a relaxing day in nature. The most popular trail reaches a 20-meter waterfall in a 12 kilometers roundtrip hike.

The short distance to the city and the views that you can get in a relatively short time makes this hike a "must do" if you got a day in the city.

It is much better early on weekdays, on weekends usually, it's crowded.

The total climbing or elevation gain is 500 meters / 1500 feet in a 5k roundtrip. It is a pretty steep ascent but the good thing is that in half-day you hike to 1600 meters above sea level.

We will visit this valley located in the south side of Santiago city. This is a narrow canyon that gets 100 km into the mountains close to Argentina's border.

On the way, we will first stop at the Maipo Valley "capital" for a local countryside breakfast close to the fireplace. After that a short walk to visit the city center, the old church, and the main square.

We continue our way to the Embalse El Yeso, a beautiful mountain lagoon that was built to provide water to the city, very nice views and a short walk "El Mirador de los Vientos" an incredible viewpoint.
We get back to the car an drive 15 minutes to a local place where we have an appetizer and lunch.

After lunch we get back to Santiago.
