The city of Valdivia was founded on February 9, 1552 with the name of Santa María la Blanca de Valdivia. Located at the confluence of the Calle Calle and Cau Cau Rivers where an indigenous Huilliche village called Ailin was located. Because of its accessibility from the Pacific Ocean and via this an expedited communication with Callao, it becomes a strategic point to achieve the maritime domain of the southern cone of America, during the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, during the visit you can see vestiges of the different landmarks historical as the refoundation of the city from 1645 and the consequent defensive fortification, German immigration and its effect on the south of Chile from 1852, all this confronted with the thriving activity of today.
