This track has it all! It is a challenging adventure across an a fairy-tale landscape of fissures, old forest and moss. The start is less than 20 minutes  drive from downtown Punta Arenas sets in front of the Mallelans strait and sorrounded by the paatgonian mountains. Great scenery, 90% downhill, technical sections, flowing singletrack who ends in Cerro Mirador, our local skiing center, with an amazing view from where Darwin was sailing.

MTB Full day in Punta Arenas

Our MTB full day in Punta Arenas, is certainly a Patagonian experience, where you can enjoy everything that this beautiful area gives us, from protected forests , unique trails, outstanding views and a very special climate will accompany us douring our adventure.

Our trails are located next to the city, one of the advantages of this place is that to start riding toward forests is not farther than 20 minutes from the Port.

After picking you up and drive where our ride begins , we will have a short but important technical talk , we will set up our bikes and equipment for maximum comfort , to enjoy our adventure.

Our tour can be divided into 3 areas, La Araña trail, Reserva forestal Magallanes Area and the ski center, each trails offers different soils, views and abilities.

We start in La Araña trail, an old logging road through lenga and coigue forests, we will ride to the highest point where we have a spectacular view of the Strait of Magellan, Tierra del Fuego Island and the otway sound, this is where we began our first decent, 12 minutes of action and adrenaline between forests, tobogans, magical patagonian colors.

After crossing a small stream we continue towards the reserva forestal Magallanes where we will have our fully energy snack in a protected native forest, here is were we start our way towards the ski center, along the north side of the Rio de las Minas, this It is the most important river of Punta arenas city, this decend will take approximately 20 minutes, where we will make some stopsto apriceiate the spectacular view of the magellanic landscape.

The Punta Arenas skiing center (Club Andino de Punta Arenas) is one of the first ski centers in the country, today continues as conventional installation and is giving way to the development of mountain biking, it has several tracks designed to enjoy this activity in which we have actively participated in the improvement and design.

After a short break we will enjoy the last part of our tour using these southern mountain bike trails .

 

On our return to the hotel we can recommend a good restaurant or tell you where the services are in the city .

Your expert guide will take you back in time and teach about the influential people who helped build the city from the ground up. Learn about the first to roam this part of the earth and to whom we owe the famous name "Patagonia" in the Maggiorino Borgatello Museum. Visit the Plaza Munoz Gamero and visit key landmarks including the chance to rub "the indian's foot" for good luck. A few blocks from the Plaza you will visit the beautiful Magallanes Regional Museum. You will also get a chance to visit the "Nao Victoria Museum" and interact with replicas of historical ships including the first ship to circumnavigate the world, "Victoria." To finalize the tour you will stroll through one of the most beautiful cemetery's in the world named after the person who donated the funds to build it "Sara Braun." 

Enjoy a complimentary pick-up and drop-off from and to your hotel or cruise port. Drive approximately 37 miles (60 km) to the historic site of Fort Bulnes, where you’ll embark on a tour through Chile’s first settlement on a rocky hill at Punta Santa Ana. After this, we head back to the city and begin the city tour. We first visit Museum Nao Victoria and the entrance fee is on us. Here you can travel back in time and experience the real-life thrill of a 16th-century sailing experience with a look at replicas of ships that once plied the Strait of Magellan. Here you’ll find weapons, navigation tools and copies of historical documents. Then we head to a beautiful restaurant located in the city and enjoy a southern Chilean lunch with delicious Chilean wine or beer.

After lunch we head to Plaza Muñoz Gamero to view key landmarks and monuments including the statue of "The Indian" where tourists go and rub its foot for good luck. Just two blocks from the Plaza is where we will  find the Magallanes Regional Museum (Braun-Menendez Palace), one of the city’s former mansions, built in 1903. This historical city tour also includes a visit to Maggiorino Borgatello Salesian Museum and the entrance fee is also on us. Here you will have a chance to learn about the cultural heritage of the area. This museum also displays a varied collection of flora and fauna which can be found in Magallanes region as well as craft-works that belonged to Yaganes, Onas, and Alacalufes. Before finalizing the tour we head to the Sara Braun Cemetery, the entrance fee here is also on us. This cemetery was ranked as one of the most beautiful in the world by CNN, and you will see for yourself fascinating tombs. Your tour finalizes with drop-off at your hotel or cruise port.

The route runs along the Strait of Magellan to observe a variety of seabirds: seagulls, caiquenes, ibis, cormorants and others. The journey takes about an hour. Your first destination is the landmark that marks the geographic center of Chile, where you can take pictures, then continue to Fort Bulnes, only a kilometer from the sector.

After an hour inside this fort, you will begin the return, but not before visiting another historical site, Mansa, which is located a kilometer and a half from Fort Bulnes. Here you visit the Rey Don Felipe City, founded in 1584 by Don Pedro Sarmiento and later renamed Puerto del Hambre. You can also take pictures and learn the history of this place. Now, return to the city of Punta Arenas.

You will have lunch at a restaurant of your choice.

To protect wild life, Marta Island is only circumnavigated to admire and photograph the Colony and the diversity of marine birds that live there.
