Navigate trhought the Strait of Magellan to Magdalena and marta Island. Magdalena Island hosts more than 150.000 penguins every yearrs and Marta Island hosts arround 1000 sea lions.

Both islands form an interesting ecosystem, making an obligatory visit for any visitor, whereas Marta Island lodges more than 1000 Sea lions, Cormorants, Skuas, Austral seagull, Antartic pigeon and Sea elephants. The Magdalena Island allows us to interact with one of the majors colonies of Magellan Penguins, going beyond the 150,000 birds. During the navigation it is possible to sight Austral Dolphins and Overas Toninas (kind of dolphins)

Depart from our hotel in Punta Arenas (if option is selected) and travel towards Magdalena Island, one of the largest penguin colonies in Chile, with an estimated population (during the months of November to March) of over 150.000 specimens of Magellan Penguins, located right in the middle of the Strait of Magellan, 35 kilometers north from the City of Punta Arenas.

Early in the morning we start with this unparalleled adventure, after checking in, we head to Laredo Bay to board speedboats. This excursion begins through the waters of the mythical Strait, sailing the same route made by the brave explorers of the end of the world, such as, Sir Francis Drake, Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, Hernando de Magallanes and Charles Darwin, among others.
The natural riches of this island invite us to admire an impressive spectacle of wild life. Magdalena Island was declared a National Park in August 1966 and re-classified as natural monument in 1982.

We navigate 45 minutes to Magdalena Island, where we  stay for 1 hour with our guide to know the natural habitat of the Magellanic Penguins in the largest colony of South America. We continue our journey to Isla Marta to see sea lions, imperial cormorants and hundreds of southern gulls.

Depending on the luck we will be able to see Austral Dolphins and Toninas Overa.

To protect wild life, Marta Island is only circumnavigated to admire and photograph the Colony and the diversity of marine birds that live there. However in Magdalena Island it is possible to disembark for about one hour, to walk and to interact with the colony.

We continue our tour to the lighthouse, from where we will have a great panoramic view of the island and surrounding areas. Return to our hotel in Punta Arenas.

Snow-drizzled volcanoes and mirrored lakes nestled in the Andes mountains — see mother nature at her best on this extraordinary journey from Puerto Varas in Chile to Bariloche in Argentina. Sail across three lakes, Todos los Santos, Felix Frías and Nahuel Huapi, with Osorno, Pontiagudo and El Tronador volcanoes dominating the expansive landscapes. Inside Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, feel the mist of Petrohué Waterfalls. Enjoy these breathtaking sights on a one-way or round-trip journey. Bus and boat transportation.

One-Way Lakes Crossing: Puerto Varas to Bariloche (1 day)
After meeting in our local offices, head northeast toward Petrohué, a town bordering Llanquihue Lake, the second largest lake in Chile. During the drive, gaze in awe at two snowcapped volcanoes stealing the show, Calbuco and the perfectly cone-shaped Osorno.

Enter Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, expansive landscapes of soaring volcanoes, fragrant forests, rivers and glassy lakes, and learn about the park’s history with a knowledgeable guide. Disembark and stroll toward one of the park’s top attractions, the raging Petrohué Waterfalls, cascading down lava beds created by Osorno volcano looming in the background.

Next, board a ferry and sail across Todos los Santos Lake, enveloped by the foothills of the Andes, to Peulla, a hamlet near the Argentina border. During the 2-hour boat ride on the shimmering green waters, weather permitting, be dazzled by views of Osorno, the ‘sharp-pointed’ Pontiagudo volcano, and El Tronador volcano, ‘The Thunderer,’ located in the southern Andes.

Disembark at Peulla and enjoy a leisurely lunch (own expense) at a hotel, perhaps following it up with a pisco sour in the lounge.

Then go through customs, board a bus and capture amazing views as you cross the border in the Andes range at 3,202 feet (976 meters) above sea level. Snake your way down the mountains to Puerto Frías, sail across the deep turquoise-colored Felix Frías Lake to Puerto Alegre, where you’ll take a bus to Puerto Blest.

In the evening, cruise from Puerto Blest across the last of your lakes of the day, the sapphire-blue waters of Nahuel Huapi, spanning 346 square miles (897 sq km), its fingers stretching deep into beech and cypress woods.

Arrive at Puerto Pañuelo after an hour and take a bus ride to the city of Bariloche, a tourism hotspot sprawled along the shoreline of Nahuel Huapi Lake.

If you've opted for the round trip back to Chile, see Itinerary below for details.
